Virgin Eyes: A Lion Haven Youth Photography Calendar (2026)

“See St. Croix the way our children see it.”

Virgin Eyes is a creative youth photography project and community fundraiser developed by Lion Haven St. Croix Community Center. Twelve local children were each given a disposable film camera and a simple instruction:

“Capture anything that inspires you.”

No rules.
No themes.
Just the raw, honest perspective of our island’s youth.

The result is a stunning collection of moments—small, joyful, chaotic, beautiful—that reflect the spirit of St. Croix in a way only children can see it. These images will be curated into the official 2026 Virgin Eyes Calendar, with each month showcasing one child's selected photo.

The name is a double meaning:

• Virgin — in reference to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

• Eyes — the pure, unfiltered way children see the world.

Together the phrase symbolizes innocence, honesty, and the authentic vision of VI youth.

All proceeds from the calendar support Lion Haven’s free youth programs on St. Croix, including fitness, cooking, art, mental health, and after-school enrichment. Virgin Eyes is more than a calendar—it's:

• a youth empowerment project

• a creative arts initiative

• a community storytelling piece

• a fundraiser that directly supports local kids

Virgin Eyes gives children:

• ownership of their creative voice

• a platform to show the world how they see their island

• confidence from seeing their art published

• the pride of contributing to community funding
